Introducing the Long Table Lunch (Tavolata),

La Bella Italia is the proud host of Salvatore Cimmino, who will swim across the Cook Strait this week. Salvatore is disabled, and he organized this event to raise awareness about the problems disabled people have in their everyday lives. His challenge will take place one day this week - he is waiting for favourable weather conditions to start. To find out more about Salvatore, click here. 

19 Sept 2011:The very first Italian Festival in Nelson was a huge success!

The atmosphere at the Air Nelson hangar was vibrant and so many people came along to experience Italy in Nelson on 17 and 18 September 2011.

Nelson participated in many ways to the exceptional programme of the Festival, also adding some more interesting moments to it, such as the two Italian songs sung by a choir of the pupils from St Joseph school. Soprano Lilia Carpinelli was very much appreciated in her outstanding performance on Saturday night. The pasta eating competition was great fun and the weather was Nelson weather - what more could we have asked for!

09 September 2011: Would you like to be one of the hosts of the Sbandieratori?

Would you like to get to meet them and give your family the chance to spend some time with them? We are looking for families who are willing to host the Sbandieratori (Flag Wavers) for ten days at the time of the Italian Festival. They will need a "Bed and Breakfast"-type accommodation and in exchange you will receive a $150 Gift Voucher to spend at La Bella Italia for dining and demonstration dinners/hands on classes, plus 5 double passes for the Italian Festival in Wellington.

17 August 2011: Our Opera concert and dinner had an incredible success!

On 17 August, Soprano Julia Booth and pianist Bruce Greenfield performed on the stage of the Little Theatre, where dinner prepared by La Bella Italia was served afterwards. The dinner tables were beautifully decorated for a sumptuous meal had by a selected group of participants. See some photos here!

15/06/2011: WELLINGTON ON A PLATE AND CIBO-ARTE

La Bella Italia will be part of Wellington on a Plate 2011 with a special menu and we will present a spectacular Cibo-arte Event. Renowned opera singer Julia Booth will perform at The Little Theatre in Lower Hutt. After the performance, we will serve a wonderful dinner prepared by La Bella Italia's executive chef Gabriele Cagnetta.

  The New Zealand Italian Festival is on this year again in Wellington and for the first time in Nelson. In Nelson it will take place at  the Air New Zealand Hangar, and in Wellington at the Westpac Stadium. The events will showcase Italian culture, goods and shows.
